This past month, Chandler Downtown Library provided free lunches to over 1,500 kids under the age of 18. The program ended July 3, and was in partnership with Chandler Unified School District (CUSD). Children enjoyed free food, activities, and of course picked up books and summer reading prizes while on site! Our first month of Summer Reading Challenge has been a great success! The community interest in the program grew dramatically from previous years, with over 10,000 registered by the end of June. This past month, we've seen over 4,500 people attend our array of fun summer programs across the four branches as well! Thank you to everyone who has participated, and all the parents and caregivers who have encouraged their children to keep reading. School starts back soon, so if you have children who are still working on the Challenge, encourage them to finish their minutes and collect all their prizes! Summer Reading Challenge ends August 1. |
