Library Connects with Aviation and the Chandler Airport Last month, Chandler Airport celebrated its 75th year, and Chandler Public Library joined in the celebration! We offered aviation-themed Grab & Go bags, hosted the highly attended program “Desert Wings – Arizona Aviation History” and had a booth at Chandler Airport Day on Jan. 20. Hundreds of families visited the library booth, and many checked out a book or signed up for a library card! Book Drive Was a Success! Friends of Chandler Public Library hosted a hugely successful book drive on January 27. Thanks to the community's response, the Friends received thousands of used books. Book donations go to the Friends Bookshops, proceeds from which provide support for many Library programs, services and events. We also want to send a shout out to the teen volunteers who worked the book drive at each location – this event would not have happened without you!
Diversity in Fashion on Display at Basha Library On January 29, over 100 people came out to Basha Library to participate in and watch the Multi-Cultural Fashion Show. All ages walked the red carpet runway during this afternoon event, showcasing traditional dress from cultures including India, China, Japan, Mexico, Myanmar (Burma), Hawaii and Navajo! Special thanks to Mayor Kevin Hartke and the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for joining us at this event! |
