This Month's Featured Book Groups

Do you love reading and talking about what you've read? Join one of our Book Discussion Groups! In addition to our book groups that meet regularly at different Chandler Library locations, this month we also have two book-related events:

Once Upon a Crime: True Crime Book Talk
Wednesday, August 23 at 6 pm, Chandler Downtown Library
Welcome to our new program series, Once Upon A Crime. We will be exploring true crime in different ways each month, with book discussions, presentations, movies, interactive challenges, and much more. In August, we invite you to read or reread any true crime novel that spikes your curiosity. Everyone will get a chance to talk about their book and the crime(s) they read about.

Local Author Presentation: Joseph VanZutphen
Saturday, August 26 at 10 am, Chandler Downtown Library
We welcome local author Joseph VanZutphen, who will talk about his book, Child of Sonora, a story of two boys living in different centuries in the Sonoran Desert. Child of Sonora received a Finalist Award for E-book fiction from the 2020 New Mexico-Arizona Book Awards.

Tips for Readers: Did you know?

Get more from your catalog! Did you know you can do more with the library catalog than just look up a book when you know the title, author, or subject? You can find a world of other suggested reads just by looking up one book.

  1. Search for a book by title, author, or subject.
  2. Click/tap the book to display the full record.
  3. Scroll down and look for Staff Lists or Community Lists featuring the title, and see what other readers have grouped together with your book. You might also find "You may also like" recommendations (from LibraryThing), Related titles, and Community tags.
  4. Pro tip! Notice that the author's name is a clickable link, so you can easily pull up other books by the author. And if you expand the Full details, you'll see clickable links for the subject headings, so you can find other books with the same subject!
