Ready to play? Our new cafe and game space, Book & Board Library Lounge, is now open at the Chandler Downtown Library.

 

Rachelle's Reads: Overdue by Amanda Oliver

Welcome Chandler Library Director Rachelle Kuzyk for her new book review segment!

While it may seem cliché for a librarian to review a book about public libraries, humor me just this once! Public libraries today are experiencing scrutiny, criticism and social challenges that most librarians have never before witnessed. Amanda Oliver IS this librarian, serving the community surrounding Northwest One, a branch of the DC Public Library system. Those of us who serve in libraries often find this career because of a love of reading, because we recognize the importance of literacy and access to information, and because we truly want to contribute to the quality of life within our communities. Writer in Residence: Author Sharon Skinner's Creative Writing Workshops and Consultations

Children's book author, editor, and writing coach Sharon Skinner will provide creative writing workshops and consultations from May to July 2023. Sessions will be available at Basha and Downtown libraries. See her full schedule here.

Summer Reading Challenge

Pre-registration for the Summer Reading Challenge starts May 1. Start reading & earning points on June 1! This year's theme is togetherness.

 

This year’s Library Giving Day raised almost $5,000 in support of your library! Thank you to those that donated this year and shared the event with friends and family. Your gift makes a difference in the lives of many.

May is a busy month for Friends of Chandler Public Library. Our much-anticipated bimonthly Clearance Sale returns to the Downtown and Sunset locations May 3-8.  All onsite used books will be 75% off!

We are also preparing for the Children’s book sale beginning May 31. If you have children’s books to donate, now is a great time! Book donations for all ages are accepted at all four library locations, every day.
